Most tornadoes I've ever seen.  I was hit by one in 88. Around 8 hit Raleigh at that time.  Since then I hadn't hurt of any...

Sod that for a lark.

These counties.

Are they like state divisions, kinda thing?

The UK is divided into counties.

I'm guessing, as some states are bigger than the entire UK, that the states need to have smaller divisions.

Is that how it works?

Oh... whilst I'm asking daft questions, WTF is an American "penny?

Yeah, pretty much. We have a lot of services that was county-wide. Like libraries for instance.  We also have county schools. Wealthier counties have better libraries and schools. There's also health services, inspections and a whole range of other things. I live in Wake County which is one of the better counties but also one of the more restrictive counties. North Carolina has 100 counties!!

So you can cities/towns then counties, then states.

Of course, now the Federal interferes with all of them...

A penny is a piece of metal worth 1/$100 which is worth less every day.  Is is illegal to melt them down and sell them for scrap (the zinc is worth more than the face value). HTH.  :ooops:
