............. anyone else having this problem? Been doing it for a week or more now. Every click action slow to respond - not severe, but pretty noticeable.

I saw derek's warning about an attack here recently, but usual security scans at the weekend found nothing.

Couple of other things I've just noticed - down in the bar at the bottom left and while waiting for the site to first load, I spotted 2 unexpected "links" - one included something about "the hedgehog" and the other "twaddlehosting" as they passed through. They don't appear when switching between pages, so probably not relevant to my problem.

Maybe I've just never caught them before, although I think I would have if they'd always been there.

Still having the same problem and, since no one else has mentioned it, I seem to be the only one. Am not tecky enough to know what I might do to track down the cause so, if anyone can guide me, I'd be grateful.

Whizzing along here.

Are you experiencing slow speeds elsewhere?

Nope, and I have several other forums I dip into each day, all responding fine. I can only think it's down to my particular route to and from this forum's server each time I visit, and every subsequent link click I make while on there.

My starting link is http://www.caliopes-corner.co.uk/index.php - and, as far as I know, that's never changed. I don't understand why I get those references to connecting to "the hedgehog" and then "total twaddle" - they're just the banners on the page - and it then goes back to "connecting to CC" again, and then slowly loads the page. After that, every link I try only shows "connecting to CC", but is always slow to respond.

Maybe a "ping" command would give a clue? I know you do that in a DOS window, but I don't know CC's numeric url.

You don't need the ip, mate.

Just use "ping caliopes-corner.co.uk"

Or, of course, "tracert caliopes-corner.co.uk"

You might try "ipconfig /flushdns", too. That'll flush your DNS resolver cache.

Tried your ideas, kat, for which, ta - results herewith.

Ping ok - 4 packets sent, 0 lost, average time 198ms

Tracert - hop 1 to my router 1ms
             hops 2-14 timed out
             hop 15 215ms 207ms 217ms - paradisecity.dotcolo.com [174.36.1.16]

Tracert(2) - hops 1-14 as above
                 hop 15 192  203   201      -                  <ditto>

ipconfig /flushdns - done

Have tried various connections to and within the forum since - it seems a bit quicker, but that might be just wishful thinking. Although, small images within posts are still slow to complete loading.

It'll probably sort itself out, I suppose -  :violin:

I've found a few sites to be slow, lately.

I traced one route and SIX servers timed-out.

If one of those is on your route to here, that might explain it.

< whisper mode on> Just come back after an hour's break and things do seem to have improved all round - even the image loading. Maybe the flushdns did some good, after all!  thank you
